Let’s catch a film!
Emma, Sarah, Joshua and Jimmy
are outside a movie theatre trying to
choose a movie to see. They all like
different kinds of movies and are
debating what to see.
Emma
: I think we should see this
movie, this movie probably appeals
to us all. Who doesn’t like a bit of
romance?
Joshua
: I hate romantic comedies.
They are all the same. The heroes will
be a couple at the end of the movie
and everyone will be happy.
Sarah
(Joshua’s girlfriend): Oh, that’s
nice. You can watch that with me,
can’t you? We can hold hands!
Joshua
: We can hold hands over
this one. I really want to see this
one.
Jimmy
: Really? You want to see
this one? It is a disgusting
horror movie. They have no other
purpose but to scare the life out
of you. What about this one then?
We can all agree on this one, can’t
we?
Sarah
: I saw the trailer for this movie
and it looked quite interesting. I love
good action movies.
Emma
: I hate action movies because
I don’t like fights.
Jimmy
: I also love science fiction,
what about you?
Emma
: I prefer drama or a good
comedy. Everybody likes a good
laugh.
Sarah
: This isn’t working at all. We
are never going to agree on one film.
Joshua
: I know! How about we let the
critics decide?
Jimmy
: What do you mean? What is
a critic?
Joshua
: A critic is a person who
makes a living out of watching
movies and writing his or her opinion
about them in newspapers or other
media. It can make it easier for us to
decide what we want to see. If we can
find a newspaper we can read about
the movies.
Emma
: That’s a great idea.
