Princess Diana
Lady Diana Spencer was born in 1961 in England. She
lived a normal and a quiet life in her early years. Her life
changed dramatically when she married Prince Charles,
heir to the British throne, and was crowned princess of
Wales. In a short period of time she changed from being
a normal young girl to the most photographed person on
the planet.
Diana was a kindergarten teacher in London
when she met Prince Charles. She won
not only his heart but also those of a
nation with her caring personality
and her beauty. Almost the whole
world watched their fairytale royal
wedding in 1981, when she wore
a royal wedding dress that had
10,000 pearls sewn on it. The
following year she gave birth to
Prince William and Prince Harry
was born two years later.
Diana was nervous at first in
public, but she soon showed the
world her charming personality.
She volunteered for many charities
and travelled all over the world to draw
attention to these causes.
Diana and Charles divorced in 1996. She fell in love
again with an Egyptian film producer, Dodi Al-Fayed.
The princess was closely followed by the paparazzi
during and after her marriage to Prince Charles.
In Paris in 1997, Diana and Dodi were being chased by
paparazzi, which led to a car crash that killed both them
and their driver. At her funeral, British Prime Minister
Tony Blair called Diana the ‘People’s Princess’.
