Elliott and his siblings hide the alien. They try to build a
machine to send messages to his home. Elliott takes ET
on his bicycle to the forest where ET phones home to ask
for help. In the end both ET and Elliott become seriously
sick when their secret is discovered. Elliott saves ET’s life
by getting him to his spaceship. ET saves Elliott’s life by
pointing his finger to his heart.

won four Oscars, 38 other awards and 27
nominations. Critics said the movie was a timeless story
of friendship and the greatest science fiction film ever
made.
The idea of the story comes from Spielberg himself. As
a child he had an imaginary friend that was the idea for
ET. A screenwriter then wrote the story about Elliott and
ET. Spielberg said that the movie was written about kids
for kids. The movie is even shot very low so the viewer
can see things through the eyes of the kids.
