Halldór Kiljan Laxness
Halldór Laxness was born on April 23, 1902 and
died in 1998. He is one of Iceland’s greatest writers.
If you haven’t learned about him yet in school, you
probably will soon. Halldór was first known as Halldór
Guðjónsson. He took the name Laxness from the name
of his childhood home.
