Donald told his wife about this woman and she told
him that he mustn’t let homeless people steal their milk.
If he did, they would continue and more and more
homeless people would come and eventually steal all
their milk. Donald agreed.
The next day, when Donald was milking his cows, just
singing and being happy as usual, the woman returned.
She appeared sicklier than the day before and looked
rather ghostly. The woman walked towards the bucket
again, picked it up and walked out of the cowshed.
Donald tried to talk to her but she didn’t answer. He
decided not to stop her, she seemed so ill. He couldn’t
take the milk away from her, but hopefully she would
not return.
When she heard that the woman had returned to
steal from them again, Donald’s wife wasn’t happy at
all. Donald promised his wife that he would not let it
happen again.
On the third day, Donald was milking his cows as
usual, but he wasn’t singing like before. He was waiting
to see if the woman would come again – and she did.
This time when she entered the cowshed she seemed
even more ill than before. She was still as pale as a
ghost. She did as before she walked straight at the small
bucket full of milk and picked it up.
