Mr Underwood:
I’m taping the sounds so we have proof.
This is wonderful news.
Mrs Bower:
Let’s try to analyse the sounds. We might
find out what kind of sounds these aliens
are using.
Mr Underwood:
Great idea. I’ll do that right away. [Several
minutes later] Mrs Bower, it sounds like they
are speaking English.
Mrs Bower:
What? That can’t be right. Let me listen for
a second. [Pause] What? This is unbelievable!
They do speak English!
Mr Underwood:
Try to find out what they are saying.
Mrs Bower:
It sounds like they are asking for help.
Mr Underwood:
What? Asking for help? Maybe they are
in trouble!
Mrs Bower:
Are they talking about weapons?
It sounds like they are talking about weapons.
Mr Underwood:
Weapons! Mrs Bower, this doesn’t sound
good.
Mrs Bower:
Shh, they are talking about weapons and
a robbery.
Mr Underwood:
That’s very odd. What does it mean?
Mrs Bower:
I don’t know – but we might be on to
something here.
Mr Underwood:
Try to make the sound clearer.
Mrs Bower:
I’m trying.
The machine makes a noise, and then they hear
‘Officer Stanley here. I’m at the crime scene. There
is no one here anymore. Over and out.’
Mr Underwood:
Mrs Bower, this sounds like a police radio.
Mrs Bower:
[Blushing] Oops.
Mr Underwood:
We should probably listen further out
in space.
