Jökulsárlón
The glacier lagoon
(Jökulsárlón in Icelandic)
is a part of one of the
shortest rivers in Iceland,
Jökulsá on Breiðamerkursandur. Huge blocks of ice
are breaking off the glacier and icebergs float in the
lagoon. This beautiful lagoon is a very popular tourist
attraction. You can take a 40-minute boat trip on the
lagoon, looking at the icebergs. The glacier lagoon is so
beautiful that even moviemakers travelled to Iceland
to film a part of a James Bond movie there.
Swimming pools in Iceland
Iceland is known for its warm outdoor swimming
pools. Many of them are filled with geothermal hot
water. You can visit pools all over the country, which is
very practical when you are camping and can’t always
find a shower. Almost everyone enjoys going to the
pools, even if they don’t like swimming, because they
can always relax in the hot tub.
