Water
You can’t live without water because it makes up 70% of
our bodies, so it is very important to drink enough of it.
Water is also found in food (meat, fish, vegetables, and
fruits) and in drinks. It is very important that children
drink water if they are thirsty and before and during
exercise.
Fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are nutritious and should be a big
part of teenagers’ and children’s diets. It is recommended
that you eat at least five portions or 500 g a day. Variety
is important. One medium size piece of fruit or about
75–100 g of vegetables (1 dl of cooked vegetables or 2 dl
of fresh salad) are all examples of one portion. One glass
of 100% fruit juice can be counted as one portion of fruit.
A few points ab
Children should eat three
regular meals per day.
There should be two or
three snacks a day too.
It is very important to
start the day with a good
breakfast and remember
to bring a healthy snack
with you to school.
