97 2 Communication How to be a critical writer When writing, be aware of your own biases. Try to write in ways that do not build on stereotypes or limit the way people view themselves. Recognise when you are trying to bend the truth to persuade your audience and who that will impact. A critical skill But why is it so important to be a critical reader? It is important because it means we are not moving through the world blindly accepting everything we are shown and told. If we take a critical approach to what we read and write, we can help distinguish truth from misinformation, and stop the latter in its tracks.
