Look at the photos and describe what you see in detail. 14 Discuss What do you think the inventions in the photos were meant for? First, think for yourself and write down some keywords. Then, discuss the purpose of these inventions with your partner. You can find the answers on page 95. 15 Guess what it is! Think of an object. First, write down in keywords what the object looks like and what it is used for. Then, use your notes to describe the object and its purpose to a partner who then tries to guess what the object is. Take turns describing and guessing. Example: It can be different colours and shapes but still do the same job. You need this object when you have misspelled a word in your notebook. It is a rubber. 16 Draw and guess In groups of four, form two teams of two students: team A and team B. Each team writes the name of ten inventions on small notecards. Place the cards facing down in two stacks on the table in front of you. One student from team A picks a card from team B’s stack. He/she draws the invention on a piece of paper. Their teammate has 60 seconds to guess the answer. If the teammate manages to use the English word for the invention, the team gets one point.
