Role of the Advisory Board Who can seek the help of the Advisory Board? The Advisory Board has a two-fold role. Firstly, the Board provides support to the school community, including general advice, guidance and informa- tion. Secondly, cases of bullying may be referred to the Board if a school or municipality has not been able to solve the case in a satisfactory manner or is seen as having failed to act. In such cases, the Board is to issue an advisory opinion based on the documents and information provided to it. The Advisory Board can be consulted by students, parents/guardians and staff members of compulsory and upper secondary schools, as well as by other persons working with children in a context covered by the Compul- sory School Act (after-school centres for children in the younger cohorts of compulsory school, irrespective of their formal organisation; extra- curricular and social activities taking place as part of a compulsory school’s operations; school camps offering short-term stays for groups of students; and field trips and school trips organised by the school or by parents, as well as any other organised activities in compulsory schools). THE ADVISORY BOARD ALWAYS FOCUSSES ON THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILDREN CONCERNED
