One syllable words ending in a consonant double the consonant,
e.g. big, bigger than, the biggest
Two or more syllable adjectives except those ending in "y" use "more than" "less than" and "the most" "the least"
e.g. famous, more famous than , the most famous
clever, less clever, the least clever
lovely, lovelier than, the loveliest
Irregular adjectives
good, better than, the best
bad, worse than, the worst
far, further than, the furthest
many, more than, the most
few, less than, the least
