Question tags

Question tags are frequently used in spoken English when you want someone to agree or disagree.

If the statement is positive , the question tag will be negative
Example: You are Tom, aren’t you?

If the statement is negative, the question tag is positive.
Example: You aren’t nervous, are you?

If the statement contains an auxiliary, the same auxiliary is used in the question tag.
Examples: You’ve got a car, haven’t you? She can’t do it, can she? She didn’t pass her test, did she?

If the statement does not contain an auxiliary, use “don’t”,” doesn’t” or “didn’t” in the question tag.
Examples: They like fish, don’t they? He plays football, doesn’t he? She studied in the States, didn’t she?
