The cat next door (be) an evil creature. It (be) an enormous ginger tom called Marmalade. It (be) the ugliest cat in the street. It (be) fat and it only (have) one eye. Although it (have) a home, it (stay) outside most of the day. It (lie) in the tall grass and (wait) for birds. When it (see) a bird, it (keep) very quiet. Slowly it (creep) up to it and when it (be) close enough, it (pounce). The cat (not be) hungry as it never (eat) the bird, it just (enjoy) killing it. It never (allow) any other cat into its garden and (fight) anything that (dare) show its face. It (spit) and (scratch) and (snarl) like a dog until the poor intruder (back) out of the garden and never (dare) to return. During the winter when it (be) cold, the cat (stay) indoors a lot of the time. It (behave) just as badly. It (use) the sofa as a scratch board, it (leave) muddy paw marks all over the kitchen worktop and it (steal) whatever food it (see). Nobody (hate) the cat, but then no one really (like) it. It (be) just there, the tyrant of the street.
